Job Summary
Receive, sort and distribute U.S. and intercampus Mail, UPS/Fed Ex, Office Depot and Freight shipments for Grand Rapids campuses.
Essential Functions
- Oversee operation of Mailroom on the Pew Campus including: logging and distributing U.S. Mail, UPS/Fed Ex shipments, Office Depot shipments and freight deliveries.
- Supervise unloading and logging of truck shipments. Notify appropriate individuals of discrepancies and/or damage.
- Produce receiving documents, record merchandise counts, and note discrepancies between purchase order and packing slips.
- Hire, train, and supervise student and temporary employees.
- Provide high level of customer service for all mailroom and receiving related activities.
- Sort and deliver mail, packages, and copy jobs to all buildings on the Grand Rapids Campus. (Van run)
- Make daily run between Allendale and Grand Rapids Campuses.
- Pick up and deliver mail to U.S. Post Office.
- Process outgoing mail and packages.
- Oversee cleaning and organization of mailroom and receiving areas in Grand Rapid Campus Buildings.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Functions
- Order and maintain supplies in all mailroom areas.
- Help cover Copy Center Coordinator duties in their absence.
- Help back up Copy Center Coordinator in sorting mail at the DeVos building and record and balance business reply mail for Grand Rapids buildings.
- Ability to work well with other staff and the campus community to maintain positive relations.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years relevant work experience.
- Experience with various computer software applications such as Microsoft Office and/or equivalent.
- Ability to operate office equipment.
- Data entry experience.
- Typing and spelling competency.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
- Ability to successfully maintain positive intercultural and interpersonal relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college course work.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision.
Supervision Received
Receives supervision and work assignments from a designated supervisor, although other staff members in the unit may provide work direction.
Supervision Exercised
May be responsible for the coordination of work assignments for student employees.
