In 2012, The Grand Rapids Press was a partner in the communitywide “Year of Interfaith Understanding” initiative. The success of that project led to an ongoing effort to build interfaith understanding in West Michigan. The Interfaith Insight, which appeared in as a weekly column in the Grand Rapids Press from 2014 through 2020, began as part of that effort. Now an online newsletter, it is written by Douglas Kindschi, director of the Kaufman Interfaith Institute at Grand Valley State University, and others in the interfaith community.
