On Friday February 3, 2023, eLearning Technologies held two in-person workshops devoted to Blackboard Ultra. Over 70 faculty and staff from across the university attended the events in the Kirkhof Center’s Pere Marquette room.
Designing a Student-Friendly Blackboard Ultra Site
During the first session, nine GVSU faculty already teaching in Blackboard Ultra shared course design tips and overall advice to help their colleagues with the Ultra transition. Hear more of their stories and see sample course tours on our Blackboard Ultra Champions website.
Harnessing the Power of Data Tools to Improve Student Engagement
The second session was led by Brad Katz, Grand Valley’s Blackboard/Anthology Client Experience Manager. Brad provided insight into some of the newest data tools available in Ultra to help improve student engagement. Participants learned about the activity stream, the importance of due dates, student progress reports, the Blackboard calendar, and course analytics.
Ultra and Data-Informed Instruction
During the second session, Megan Knoll (GVSU Seidman Management faculty member) shared how data can inform instruction and shared a moving story about making a student intervention after analyzing her Blackboard Ultra course data. Hear Megan’s story in the video clip.
