ABOUT THE LINKS U PEER PROGRAM

Being a neurodiverse student can be a challenge. While students with neurodiversity may excel academically, they may struggle with social aspects of campus life, such as meeting new people and interacting with professors. In the fall of 2012, Grand Valley State University (GVSU) introduced an innovative peer program called Campus Links. The program is designed to deepen the connection between neurodiverse students and the Grand Valley experience . Campus Links Peers help students adjust to new environments and routines more quickly, in the hopes that students with neurodiversity will have a more fulfilling and enriching college experience.

How Links U Works

Links U is a program of GVSU's Disability Support Resources (DSR) office. Students with Neurodivergence, registered with DSR and peer supporters will be invited to participate in Links U programming throughout the year.  Peer supporters and interested Links U students participate in ongoing informational sessions, academic support, and social programming from GVSU resources that are coordinated by DSR. Peer supporters, DSR staff, and Links U programs are available to participants, in order to promote a more positive college experience. Peer supporters, Links U students, and DSR staff will create community standards that everyone is expected to follow.
