2025 Keynote Speakers
Kathryn and David Coffey
Kathryn Coffey has a doctorate in educational leadership. Her over 25 years of education experience includes being an early elementary classroom teacher, a mathematics education professor, a mathematics coach, an elementary mathematics specialist, and as an educational consultant. While she recently retired from a small urban public school district, she continues to share her experience and expertise at local, state, and national conferences.
David Coffey has a doctorate in mathematics education. He has been at Grand Valley State University for over 20 years where he is a professor in the Mathematics Department and the former director of the Design Thinking Academy. Before that, he taught middle school mathematics and computer science for seven years. He currently works with future teachers at GVSU and does professional development with inservice K-8 teachers around teaching and learning mathematics via creative, collaborative problem-solving. He is interested in the role human-centered design might play in returning creativity and humanity to education. He is also the co-host of two podcasts: Teaching Like Ted Lasso and Teaching in Tanzania.
In their spare time, the Coffeys enjoy travel, the outdoors, music, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
