Event Supervisors
Are you a science educator or STEM professional? We are looking for Event Supervisors!
The Region 12 Michigan Science Olympiad tournament will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 on the GVSU Allendale campus.
Science Olympiad is a national program with competitions for middle and high school students. There are 23 middle school events and 23 high school events that approximately 50 area school teams from Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon counties compete in. Hundreds of students compete in the tournament.
In order to have a quality tournament we need Event Supervisors for each of these events for both middle (division B) and high school (division C).
The responsibility of the Event Supervisor is to create a test using the National rules, administer the test, and grade it on tournament day. You or we can provide volunteers to help you.
B (middle school) event short descriptions and C (high school) event short descriptions can be found on the National website (soinc.org).
The National Science Olympiad site is very helpful for event supervisors with a page for ES that includes the Logistics Resource. Also, each event also has a page with helpful info and links. To get an idea of the tests, there are practice tests on the Scioly wiki: https://scioly.org/tests/.
Michigan Science Olympiad had a virtual coaches clinic on November 2. The presentations are also very helpful for Event Supervisors and may be found HERE.

You may download the rules for free from the National site, or contact us and we will send you the rules.
Region 12 hosts approximately 20 B teams and 25 C teams. Here is the link to last year's tournament program that includes the schedule.
