Performance and Session Opportunities
Participating students can choose to play in any/all/or none of “Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of Animals,” “Solo Masterclass with Dr. Cho,” “Masterclass on Collaborative Piano,” and “Final Concert.” Space may be limited for the “Solo Masterclass” and “Masterclass on Collaborative Piano.” Please see below for details for these sessions.
Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of Animals
Please check out a sample video HERE (starts at 11’ 30’’) and a copy of the score HERE. There are 14 Movements in this piece and the difficulty level varies. If you choose to play in this project (we highly recommend you do!), Dr. Cho will discuss with your teacher as to which movement will work best for you. Please also provide a video-recording of your playing (any piece) in the registration form, so that we can access your level. If you request, Dr. Cho will also provide a free mini-lesson (about 20 minutes) a week before the event to help you prepare for the day. You will perform the piece with your partner during the Final Concert.
Solo Masterclass with Dr. Cho
If you’d like to play for Dr. Cho in this session, please provide the piece information as well as your performance video (it does not have to be the same piece) in the registration form. The pianists will be chosen for this session based on the repertoire. Due to the time limitation, each person will play a 5-minute piece (or a selection from a piece) in the masterclass. If you are not chosen, Dr. Cho will offer a free mini-lesson on another day.
Masterclass on Collaborative Piano
If you’d like to play for this session, please provide your performance video in the registration form (any piece), so that we can access your level. The repertoire will be assigned based on your skill level. In case there are more than 3-4 students applying for this session, priority will be given to older students.
Final Concert
If you’d like to play in the Final Concert (we highly recommend that you do!), please provide your piece information. Memorization is required.
