Asian American & Pacific Islander Student Engagement & Resources

Student Engagement

The Asian Student Orientation is a three-day orientation designed to support students who identify as Asian - to welcome you to campus, help you connect with fellow students, faculty and staff and navigate the many campus and community resources available to you.  It takes place prior to Transitions: New Student Orientation. This program is intentionally designed to create culturally-responsive and educational spaces for our diverse communities. Programming is open to students regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, or other protected identity.

ASAP (Asian Student Achievement Program) is designed to create an environment where students can achieve their full potential at GVSU while being their full, authentic selves. This program is open to all students and is a reflection of our values of inclusiveness and diversity and our core mission of student success.

Asian Student Achievement Program

The Asian Student Graduation Celebration complements the university commencement ceremonies and is an opportunity to come together and acknowledge Laker accomplishments in the spirit and traditions of culture. For many students, a college diploma represents a journey marked by hard work and success-- not just for the individual students, but also for their family, friends, and supporters. This event provides a more intimate setting for students to share their personal milestones with their communities and uplift the next generation of graduates.

Join any of our hundreds of student organizations, various programming teams, fraternity and sorority life, or participate in civic engagement and leadership opportunities!

The Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) High School Students Summer Camp at Grand Valley State University offers Asian American Pacific Islander high schools students an opportunity to build their future as leaders. This camp promotes cultural learning, preparation for college and a unique experience on GVSU’s campus.

A celebration of history, culture, traditions and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islanders. The celebration is recognized every February through March.
