Marisel Herrera is a high-impact certified coach, author, and
speaker whose authentic and bold message empowers Latina/o students
and youth to live fierce and fearless lives. Marisel’s message affirms
the power of education, faith, resiliency, culture, and community to
transform one’s life. Drawing on her journey of grit and grace from
the housing projects of New York City to the halls of academia, over 2
decades as an educational leader, she equips and empowers diverse
audiences with tangible tools and insight about success. Marisel will
share her story and how students can use their strength, grit, and
personal experiences to be successful.
Connections to the Classroom
Social Justice & Human Rights (LIB 100):
Upon completion of the program, attendees will have gained new
awareness on the challenges and obstacles that face young Latina/o of
color in accessing educational opportunities
Oppression/Discrimination (LIB 201):
Upon completion of the program, attendees will be able to
describe and discuss the systemic oppression and discrimination faced
by communities of color in areas including employment, education
systems and the criminal justice system.
Diverse Communities (LIB 201)
Upon completion of the program, attendees will be able to analyze
the history of oppression in the Latina/o community and how it has a
lasting impact on today’s youth.
