Description

Conversations of Color are open and honest discussions about race, popular culture, identity, and current events. The goals of this ongoing series include:

  • To provide a space to hold difficult and challenging dialogue
  • Provide context and clarity to issues happening in the world around us
  • To assist students in understanding the complex issues of identity and how they affect us as individuals and a campus community

The strategies and rhetoric of oppressors use to put down stories are public knowledge. History has shown what happens when rampant white nationalism controls the flow of ideas. This presentation is a call to action to educate yourself and those around you.

  • History of book bans and what historical narrative and literature has been lost
  • A review of currently restricted books.
  • How normalization of racist ideas perpetuates harm.
  • Americas all white reading curriculum.

This event also appears on the main events calendar tagged as academic, conversationsofcolor, gvhalloween, and oma.
