OSCCR Mission, Vision, and Values
Mission:
The Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR) fosters a safe, respectful community by upholding institutional policies through education, individual accountability, and restorative practices. We equip students with conflict management skills, provide fair resolution processes, and ensure procedural fairness. Through collaboration with campus partners, we promote student learning, responsibility, and community well-being.
Vision:
The Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution envisions a university community where every student thrives through accountability and growth. By weaving restorative practices into the fabric of campus life, we aim to transform conflict into opportunities for learning and connection. We aspire to cultivate a culture of individual responsibility, where students confidently navigate their choices and relationships with integrity, equipped with the skills to resolve disputes and repair harm. Rooted in education, our vision is a dynamic public university where students emerge as empowered, responsible citizens, ready to contribute to the world beyond our walls.
Values:
Restorative Practices: We value empowering students to build healthy relationships and offering support during conflict by encouraging them to take an active role in recognizing harms and crafting restorative solutions.
Individual Responsibility: We value fostering accountability by addressing personal choices and their impacts, guiding students to uphold their obligations in conflicts, and to respond to harm with integrity, informed by their unique experiences.
Education: We value student growth by creating opportunities for them to understand their roles and responsibilities within our university community, helping them learn and develop through conflicts with peers, the institution, and the broader world.
