November 05, 2024
Alex Hogarth is deeply committed to motivating, leading and mentoring the next generation of Laker health care leaders.
Hogarth is a physician assistant in the trauma and acute care surgical unit at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He graduated from Grand Valley in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in allied health sciences and in 2020 with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies (PAS). Hogarth and others in his PAS cohort completed their classes from the Traverse City Campus.
Hogarth serves as a preceptor for current PAS students, offering mentorship and guidance, sharing insights in his medical specialty and fostering their growth. Hogarth also serves as a guest lecturer and adjunct faculty member in GVSU’s physical assistant program. He teaches in a clinical applications lab where students get hands-on learning opportunities.
“Grand Valley does a really good job not just training you to be a good provider, but also making you a much more well-rounded person.”
During his time as a student, Hogarth says GVSU instilled in him a
love for lifelong learning and a commitment to excellence. He served
as a tutor in the student academic success center and as a Richard
Paul Clodfelder (RPC) student society board member, the official
organization for PAS students at Grand Valley. He was also involved in
several other student clubs including the Pre-PA club and Philosophy
club. Hogarth says his professors and mentors modeled the values of
integrity, innovation, and service that have guided his career trajectory.
Hogarth has been named a three-time MVP by Munson Medical Center
ICU Healthcare Team for exemplifying values including respect,
teamwork, compassion, and stewardship. Hogarth’s contributions extend
beyond the clinical setting, impacting the lives of students and
alumni while fostering a culture of growth and learning within the
GVSU community.
