The Clinical Rotation Fee of $4,400 was instituted with the PAS cohort entering Fall 2023 (Graduating Class of 2025).  This fee represents clinical facilitation costs associated with clinical placements.  The fee is divided between the three semesters of clinical rotations.  The Clinical Rotation Fee increases to $5,500 beginning with the PAS cohort entering Fall 2025 (Graduating Class of 2027).

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training Courses

Students are required to take BLS and ACLS as part of the MPAS program.

Health Compliance Costs

$162 to $1,450

Students are responsible for the cost of obtaining/maintaining health compliance.  Health compliance costs very with estimates ranging from $162 to $1,450, depending upon the type of services required and location received.  Some services may be covered by health insurance.  Students may contact Financial Aid for assistance in covering these costs.

The GVSU PAS program utilizes StatPearls.com, an online comprehensive Healthcare Education resource, for the clinical year. This program takes the place of clinical year required textbooks.

Note:  Total Cost will increase to $97,268 beginning with the PAS cohort entering Fall 2025 (Graduating Class of 2027).

NOTE:

On occasion, the Traverse City students will be required to travel to the GR PAS site.  This may happen up to two times during your time in the program.  Each trip, from site-to-site, is approximately 280 miles, and the average hotel cost is roughly $155.  Students will be reimbursed for program required travel between the campuses.

During the program, students are responsible for lodging and travel costs.  Costs vary throughout program phases depending on the location of assigned clinical rotations.

APPA/MAPA Dues:  This one-time fee for memberships to both AAPA and MAPA may be required for GVSU funding to attended conferences.

** A Clinical Rotation Fee of $1,467/semester will be required beginning with the PAS cohort entering the program in Fall 2023 (Graduating Class of 2025).  The Clinical Rotation Fee will increase to $1,833 beginning with the PAS cohort entering Fall 2025 (Graduating Class of 2027).  Tuition and fees are subject to change.

Graduate Assistantships

There are a limited number of graduate assistantships in the University. They are part-time, paid work experiences for graduates in their field of study, which allows them to expand and/or apply their discipline knowledge and skills under supervision. Tuition is also paid based on requirements of number of hours worked and course credits being taken per semester.

Physician Assistant Scholarships


Grand Valley State University (GVSU) currently has 6 scholarships available to aid in tuition for students in the Physician Assistant Studies (PAS) Program.  For further information about scholarships available through GVSU and external scholarships visit www.gvsu.edu/myscholarships.


Stephanie Urbanawiz Physician Assistant Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students in the Physician Assistant Studies Program who are interested in pursuing careers in oncology or primary care.  Applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, be a resident of Michigan, completed 12 credit hours or more in the PAS Program, and currently in the didactic phase of the PAS Program.

Award: Total $1,500 ($750 Distributed in the Fall and Winter semesters)

Christos and Joan Panopoulos Physician Assistant Studies Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students in the Physician Assistant Studies program during their year-long clinical phase.  Applicants must have a cumulative PAS GPA of 3.5 or greater and meet the criteria to progress to the clinical phase of the PAS Program.  Preference will be given to nontraditional students and financial need may be considered via completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  One PAS scholarship is awarded yearly.

Panopoulus Physician Assistant Studies Scholarship - Blake Geschke

Steven and Kathryn ’83 Bandstra Clinical Placement Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students with demonstrated financial need determined by the FAFSA, who have clinical placement sites outside of urban areas in Western and Northern Michigan.   Two PAS students will be awarded the scholarship prior to entering the clinical phase of the PAS program.  Recipients of the Steven and Kathryn ’83 Bandstra Health Sciences Scholarship are ineligible. 

Award: Total $2,000 ($1,000 Distributed in the Fall and Winter semesters)

Steven and Kathryn ’83 Bandstra Health Sciences Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students with financial need determined by FAFSA who demonstrate strong character and work towards their profession through community service and extra-curricular activities.  Preference is given to students with interest in senior care. Applicants must be admitted to the PAS program and may apply at any stage of their PAS academic career, including  prior to matriculation in the PAS program. Students may reapply yearly.  Three PAS applicants are awarded the scholarship yearly. 

Award: Total $5,000 ($2,500 Distributed in the Fall and Winter semesters)

Budden Family Pathway Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to help widen the pathway to graduation for students from middle income families. This scholarship is open to female students in the College of Health Professions or Kirkhof College of Nursing that have a cumulative GPA above a 3.0.  PAS applicants must be admitted to the PAS program and may apply at any stage of their PAS academic career, including prior to matriculation in the PAS program.  Students may reapply yearly.  One scholarship is awarded yearly.  

Award: Total $2,250 ($1,125 Distributed in the Fall and Winter Semesters)
