FIRST Robotics Students Receive Scholarships to Attend GVSU

Each year, the Grand Valley State University Seymour & Esther Padnos College of Engineering & Computing awards two scholarships to talented students participating in high school FIRST Robotics. In past years, the scholarship awards were announced during the Friday and Saturday opening ceremonies of the West Michigan FIRST Robotics Competition held at the GVSU Fieldhouse in Allendale. Although the event has been cancelled this year due to concern for the health and safety of participants during the Coronavirus pandemic, we are thrilled to be able to continue to support talented students planning to pursue a career in STEM.

This year's scholarship recipients are Cayla Stout of the Mattawan WiredCats (Team 5675) and Ian Russell of the Wayland Wildcats (Team 6090). Each student will receiveĀ $4,000 per year for up to four years at Grand Valley State University. We can't wait to welcome these new Lakers to campus!

More information on the GVSU FIRST Scholarship can be found on the West Michigan FIRST website atĀ https://westmifirst.org/westmi-district/.
