GVSU Students Participate in 4th Formula SAE Competition
May 17, 2018
In May, the GVSU Formula SAE Team, Laker Racing, competed in the
annual Formula SAE Competition at the Michigan International Speedway.
The team is led by assistant professor of engineering, Nick Baine.
"This is the fourth competition that the team has participated
in, and our performance continues to improve. This was an
exceptionally challenging year due to the poor weather conditions
during competition, making waterproofing and wet weather handling far
more important. Despite the challenges, for the first time, the team
was able to successfully complete all events at the competition,
including endurance. As a result, our rank has improved to 71st out of
120 teams."
Baine added, "I continue to be very proud of our team. Each
year, the team grows and learns from the performance of the previous
car and the feedback of the judges. I have no doubt that next year’s
car will be even better."
