1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
Since graduating from GVSU, I haven't sat still! I worked in
Arizona for 2 years as a PE and Health teacher, came back to Michigan,
and married my (now) husband. He has been in the US Coast Guard since
2002, so we have moved a lot for his career. I have been able to coach
swimming throughout. We have lived in Metro Detroit, Coastal Maine,
Key West & St. Augustine, Florida. We are currently in the process
of moving to Grand Rapids where I intend to coach swimming, teach swim
lessons, and possibly get back into teaching in a classroom/gym again.
We have 2 children that I hope become Lakers!
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
Getting through swim practice with my teammates and learning in
the PE methods classes taught by Dr. Patti Rowe.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Just go for it. Jump inĀ and figure it out later.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Valuable, Life-changing, and Growth
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
My current mission is to keep children safe around water. I have
been working with children in swim lessons since I was a high schooler
and water safety really is a passion of mine.
