Grand Valley State University, Housing & Residence Life COVID
Response Coordinator
1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
Because of the rich co-curricular experience I had at GVSU, I
knew before graduating that I wanted to pursue an impactful career in
higher education and college student affairs. I moved to Nashville,
Tennessee to work as an Expansion Consultant for Sigma Pi Fraternity
before returning to school and receiving my Master of Arts in Higher
Education Administration from Central Michigan University. While at
CMU, I was able to teach a course on civic engagement in the
University Honors Program and manage four community service programs
for the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center. I returned to GVSU in
2018 to work in Housing & Residence Life, where I currently serve
as COVID Response Coordinator.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
I have fond memories of spending time in nature at GVSU while
hiking the ravines for samples and measurements during the NRM course
called The Climatic Factor as well as during the Rowing I course I
finally got enrolled in my senior year. I love the outdoor learning
environment that GVSU has been blessed with!
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
The most important thing about your personal brand should be your
character credentials. A career is temporary, but a reputation lasts forever.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Transformational, Growth, and Home
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I would like to create positive change both in my field and in
the personal lives of my students.
