1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
After graduation in Spring 2014, I began teaching elementary art
at Rockford Public Schools and was there for 6 years. I wanted to be
more connected with GVSU so I joined the College of Education Alumni
Association as well as the GVSU Alumni Board of Directors. I completed
my Master's Degree in Summer 2020 with a focus on Elementary
Education. In Fall 2020, I began teaching elementary art at Allendale
Public Schools.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
A favorite GVSU memory was creating and curating a student art
show with my friend (also art teacher) Michelle Haapala. As art
education majors, a final show was not part of our degree, but we
wanted to show what our students could do.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Complain less, work more. -Dellas Henke, Printmaking professor
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Experience, Family, Education
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I would like to share my love of art and the impact it can make
on everyone. I want everyone to continue to look and learn at
everything they experience around them to take in the art created everywhere.
