HealthWest/Master's Level Clinician
1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
After graduation from undergrad, I completed my Master's degree
at GVSU in social work. I worked at Health Net of West Michigan (in
Grand Rapids) as a social work case manager before getting married,
moving, and beginning a job at HealthWest in Muskegon. I continue to
work at HealthWest as a Masters Level Clinician on the Youth
Assessment and Stabilization team. I work with youth ages 0-18 and
their families.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
While at GVSU, I was a member of the Track & Field and Cross
Country teams. My favorite memory was winning the cross country
national meet in Louisville, KY during a festival year (2014) and
finishing 1-2-3 with my teammates. Later that day we also watched the
women's soccer team win the championship!
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
The best piece of advice I have is to slow down to enjoy the
moment; little things slip by if you don't appreciate them.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
GROWTH, FAMILY, HOME
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
As a social worker, I witness every day how families that are
broken with trauma and hardships often have a poor attachment with
their children. If I could make a difference in the world, I want to
impact parents to be able to work through their barriers to give their
families love, hope, and happiness.
