Study Abroad Opportunities
According to NAFSA: Association of International Educators, fewer than 2% of American college students study abroad. Fortunately, Grand Valley has a strong emphasis on the internationalization of our programs, and we have over 10% of students who study abroad. The benefits of studying abroad include expanding your worldview, experiencing another culture, and learning about yourself. Additionally, GVSU students make lifelong friends through the bonding experience of traveling overseas together!
The PCKET program offers several study abroad opportunities for students to earn credit in the major and in the grades 3-6 concentrations. It is entirely possible for you to study abroad many times throughout your career at GVSU, and to see many corners of the world. Finally, having a study abroad program listed on your resume improves your marketability on the job market.
Certificate of International Teaching Experience
Students can earn a “Certificate of International Teaching Experience” when you participate in any of the approved study abroad programs that have a school field experience in the destination country. In addition to the study abroad experience, you would enroll in PCK/EDI 315 for 1-3 credits to earn the certificate. Your study abroad director can help advise you about the appropriate process for you.
