Hi XXX (Supervisor Name),
I’m emailing because I am interested in taking a course at GVSU called the Psychology Practicum course, and I would like to use my current position to qualify for the course. The course provides credit for students who have a work placement in the psychology field (paid or unpaid). Students are required to have a work placement and then enroll in a seminar course where they will meet biweekly with the instructor and the other students to discuss their placements (how they are going, challenges they are having, etc.) and also learn about professional development, career prep, and advising related issues to help them in their future careers. Although the course is NOT a formal internship course within psychology (i.e., where students have formal placements with specific supervisors), it does use an “internship management system” to keep track of students and manage all of their documentation. I am interested in taking this course as I believe it will help me for my future. I am emailing because as my supervisor, I would need you to sign off on the form and complete two short feedback forms on my performance during the semester which will be used to help me better understand my strengths and weaknesses in the workplace. Please let me know if you are okay with this, and if so, you will get an email prompt to complete the internship agreement form. If you have any questions, you can ask me or you can directly contact the course instructor, Dr. Mikhila Wildey ([email protected]). Thank you!
