Fitness & Wellness Internship
Under the Division of Student Affairs, this position supports Fitness and Wellness Services within the department of Recreation and Wellness. The selected candidate will experience recreation programming through an environment that is hands-on and fast paced with a professional development approach.
Fitness and Wellness Services offers fall, winter, and spring/summer internships. Selected interns must complete all training prior to the start of their internship.

Preferred Qualifications
- MOV 320 & 321, Exercise Testing and Programming
- MOV 300 Kinesiology
- MOV 304, Exercise Physiology
- Excellent time management, customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Prior experience in health, fitness, or related field
- Must have health compliance for internship completed prior to start date
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding service to the students, faculty/staff, and community members who take part in Fitness and Wellness programs and services, to include:
- Support the UFit program
- Perform intake appointments, health risk assessments, and fitness assessments
- Lifestyle management and goal setting
- Equipment orientations
- Providing instruction and demonstration of various fitness applications to patrons
- Working with participants to create personalized, practical exercise programs to assist them in reaching their fitness and wellness goals
- Assist with Fitness and Wellness programs, special events, workshops, and presentations
- Assist with Fitness and Wellness marketing and promotion efforts
- Fill in at the front desk when needed
- Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions
- Complete a project that will provide added value to our programs, services, or operations
- Other duties as assigned
Compensation
- This is an unpaid position, for academic internship credit
- Support for professional development opportunities such as workshops, training, certifications, conferences and travel may be available based on performance and interest of staff
- Opportunities for paid time may be available during internship
