The Marketing and Social Media Assistant will support Recreation & Wellness marketing and communication efforts through development, production and implementation of strategic marketing initiatives aimed at increasing customer engagement, retention, promoting brand image, improving program awareness and strengthening current collaboration efforts with campus partners.  On-the-job training is provided. 

The position is reports to Recreation & Wellness' Marketing and Communications Coordinator and works in collaboration with other students on the team.

Compensation: this position starts at Level 4 Step A ($13.20/hour) and is based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with social media, including developing ideas for content scheduling, posting, recording and editing. 
  • Track and report web and social media analytics.
  • Collaborate with marketing team and program areas on special projects. 
  • Serve as a RecWell representative at internal events, campus events including outreach. 
  • Educate and generate awareness for Recreation & Wellness with the GV community.
  • Assist with digital media including photo, video, website, newsletters etc. 
  • Attend weekly meetings and maintain communication via email & Trello. 
  • Collaborate with other campus departments and social channels to promote events.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current GVSU student enrolled in at least 6 credits.
  • Majoring in Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Writing, or related field 
  • Strong understanding of how to manage social media accounts for a business, specifically for a university/college.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with strong attention to detail. 
  • Strong organizational skills & good time management.
  • Ability to think both creatively and strategically. 
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Professional attitude and preferably involved with Recreation & Wellness.

 


Compensation

Compensation: starts at Step A class 4 : Fall 2024 = $11.53/hr. and is based on experience
