Aaron Mowen
Director, Recreation & Wellness

Aaron earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Saginaw Valley State University and a master’s degree in sports administration from Michigan State University. Aaron started his higher education career at Saginaw Valley State University and was the Director of Campus Recreation at SVSU for 15 years. He is credited for expanding student participation in recreational programs year after year, including growing and building SVSU’s club sports and outdoor adventure programming from ground zero. Aaron also served as director for our state NIRSA-affiliated chapter in 2022. In addition to his roles within higher education, Aaron serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserve (since 2003).

Allison Gehringer
Assistant Director (Fitness & Wellness)
Pronouns: She/Her
Allison oversees the Fitness programs. She joined GVSU Recreation and Wellness in September of 2022 after spending three years in North Carolina as the Fitness Coordinator for Recreation and Wellness at UNCG. She earned her B.S. degree in Kinesiology and Health from Iowa State University. She was a Graduate Assistant for GVSU Recreation and Wellness, where she earned her M.Ed. degree in Higher Education. She is certified through ACE-CPT, YogaFit l, and American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Instructor
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, anything active outdoors, and hanging out with friends, family, and her two pups.

Amy Campbell
Associate Director of Recreation & Wellness
Pronouns: She/Her
Amy has worked as a professional with Recreation since 2003. She earned her B.S. degree from Hillsdale college in Health and Physical Education, and her M.Ed. from GVSU in College Student Affairs Leadership. Her responsibilities are to oversee all operations of Fitness and Wellness programs and services, including the Group Exercise program. She is also the co-director for the Injury Care Clinic. Amy also serves on a number of campus committees, to support efforts in improving the health and well being in and around the GV community. Amy is certified through NSCA-CPT, SPINNING®, TRX credentialing, Yogafit I, and an Instructor for CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross.
Amy enjoys spending time with her family, trail running, camping, cooking, and spending time outdoors (especially the beach)!

Andrew Rolls
Club Sport Program Coordinator
Pronouns: He/Him
Andrew was hired in on January 2023. Andrew got his undergraduate degree in Sport Management with a minor in Business from GVSU. Andrew also received his Master's of Education degree from GVSU in Higher Education: College Student Affairs. Before starting this roll, Andrew was a Sales Manager and tennis instructor at an athletic and tennis club called Premier Athletic and Tennis Club where he still teaches on the side. He was previously the GVSU club tennis coach and currently coaches high school varsity tennis as well.
Andrew has a passion for all sports and his spare time still plays in many competitive sport leagues on the side. Andrew also enjoys traveling, playing any card or board game, playing video games, watching a good tv show/movie, and is always down to try something new or go on any adventure.

Anna Tollefson
Assistant Director (Club Sports and Business Operations)

Anna completed her undergrad at GVSU with a Bachelors in Physical Education, concentration in coaching. She also completed graduate school at GVSU with a M.Ed in Higher Education, emphasis is Adult & Higher Education. During undergrad, Anna was a club sport athlete and then took over and coached the volleyball club after.
In her spare time Anna, loves traveling, reading, coaching, spending time with family, and her Golden Retriever Maizey.
Dakota Francoeur
Intramural Sports Coordinator

Dakota joined the GVSU Recreation & Wellness Department in May 2023 as the Intramural Sports Coordinator. She has a Bachelor’s in Clinical Exercise Science from GVSU, as well as a Master’s in Sport Administration from the University of Miami. Prior to this, Dakota was a Recreational Programmer & Facility Manager for Byron Township Recreation. In her spare time, you can find her playing video games, participating in volleyball leagues, or spending time with her Golden Retriever - Scout.

Joe Bitely
Assistant Director (Climbing Center and Outdoor Adventures)

Joe was named the Assistant Director of Recreation overseeing Outdoor Adventures and the Climbing Center in 2016 after previously serving as the GVSU Climbing and OAC Manager since 2007. Joe received his bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University, where he majored in Recreation Management. Joe's efforts empower and inspire the GVSU community through outdoor and adventure based opportunities. Joe is avid rock climber and climbing instructor.

Katie Jourdan
Assistant Director (Student Wellness)
Pronouns: She/Her
Katie joined Recreation and Wellness in November 2019. Katie hopes that her experience in community health will help guide her in supporting and improving the wellness of all GVSU students. Prior to GVSU, Katie’s work was in the realm of public health. She began her career as health educator and tribal fitness center coordinator for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians supporting nutrition and exercise programming for tribal members. After that, Katie spent seven years as a public health educator with District Health Department #10 working primarily in sexual health and substance abuse prevention among youth and young adults. Katie received her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University majoring in Public Health Education and Health Promotion, Spanish, and minoring in Nutrition. She went on to get her Master of Public Health in Health Behavior & Health Education from the University of Michigan.
Katie spends her free time hiking, doing yoga, traveling and eating donuts (mostly in moderation).

Mike Przydzial
Associate Director of Recreation & Wellness
Pronouns: Him/His
Mike joined the Recreation team in May 2019 after his most recent work at Ferris State University as Coordinator of Athletic Event Operations & Special Projects. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (emphasis on Sports Leadership) with a minor in Business from Grand Valley State University in 2012, while also competing on the Men’s Basketball team. Mike completed his graduate work in 2014 from the University of Arkansas with a M.Ed. in Sports & Recreation Management, before spending four years in Flagstaff, Arizona as Assistant Director of Campus Recreation at Northern Arizona University. Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with family and staying active in a variety of ways.

Mitch Eastlick
Assistant Director (Intramural Sports)
Pronouns: Him/His
Mitch oversees the intramural sports and club sports programs. He began working with GVSU Recreation in 2015 as the Competitive Sports Coordinator. He received his bachelor's degree in Communication Studies from San Jose State University in 2012. While at SJSU, Mitch skipped a night class his second week as a freshman to attend an intramural sports flag football training and worked with intramural sports until he graduated. He was a GA for Ohio University Campus Recreation, where he received his master’s degree in Recreation & Sports Sciences in 2015.
Born and raised in rural Northern California, he began officiating when he was 14 years old as a little league and softball umpire. As his senior project in high school, Mitch officiated high school football. The first game he worked, he was on the sideline of his high school. Mitch roots for Bay Area sports teams.

Neil Nunn
Graduate Assistant, Fitness Programs

Neil has worked previously in the in the Injury Care Clinic and is a recent GVSU Alum graduating with his Bachler's in Clinical Exercise Science. While in his undergrad Neil served as a resident assistant for the last 3 years. He is currently pursuing his masters in health administration through the College of Education and Communication and Innovation. In his free time Neil enjoys playing video games, working out, and spending time with family and friends
Riley Long
Assistant Director (Esports)

Riley has been an active member of the esports industry since 2012, accumulating experience as a competitor, coach, professional esports team founder, and collegiate esports leader. He earned his B.S. degree from Michigan Technological University in Mechanical Engineering. Riley is passionate about creating meaningful experiences through esports programming and competition for GVSU students and West Michigan communities/organizations.
Riley spends his free time playing D&D with friends, spending time with his family, and watching sporting & esports events.
