RecWell Stories
Olivia Seaver
"I REC because it helps me stay in control of my health - something I haven't always been able to do. I have a condition called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (or POTS) that affects my heart rate and blood pressure, and often causes me to pass out. However, with frequent cardio and lower body strength training, I'm able to significantly reduce my symptoms. I've gone from passing out several times a day to not having fainted in over a year. And I feel stronger than ever.
My involvement with Campus REC has impacted by experience at GVSU by staying healthy and meeting the amazing instructors!
I chose to participate in Group Exercise because it's fun and motivating to work out in a group, and I don't have to write my own workouts. Also, as someone with past injuries, there's a feeling of safety when you have instructors constantly checking your form. Not to mention, the instructors are amazing - they encourage everyone do their best no matter their limitations or abilities by always providing modifications." - Olivia
