What is your success story? Know that what you share may help motivate others.
I have always been a big sports guy, and I wanted to find my niche at GV and try something I had not done before. I ended up trying out for the Men's Club Volleyball Team at GV and have since enjoyed every minute of it! There is a huge volleyball community at Grand Valley which makes for great times at the Rec Center. 

Why do you participate in Recreation & Wellness programs, services, or events?
I participate in Recreation & Wellness because I know what they offer is going to be great. Whether it be a workout class, a giveaway, or a big event on campus, there are always new ways to get involved and learn new things about your health!

How has your involvement in Recreation & Wellness impacted your experience at GVSU?
My involvement has impacted my time at GV in so many ways. Especially in my freshman year, I made some of my now best friends participating in IM and Club sports. Rec & Wellness has given me so many opportunities to not only build on my experiences at GV but create new ones as well.

Which Recreation & wellness programs or services have you participated in?
Group Exercise, Club Sports, Intramural Sports, Employment


SELF-CARE 

Wellness is a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential. How do you actively pursue your wellness?
I always make sure to set aside time during the week for exercise, whether that be at the gym or in my apartment, I am always searching for new ways to stay fit. I have also recently enjoyed the classes that RecWell has provided and had recently found great interest in yoga!

What do you do to take care of yourself when you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed?
I am conscientious about not becoming overwhelmed with all that college brings. I continue to have a balance between work and free time in order to not get burned out. When I need to step away, I love to listen to music and get outside.

What motivates you to be well and stay healthy?
My friends definitely motivate me the most. We are all pretty active and we love to play sports and have friendly competitions. If I want to keep up with them, it is important that I eat right and stay in shape. I also want to stay healthy for as long as possible so a healthy future is certainly a big motivator.
