"I worked out quite heavily when I was involved in GVSU's Swim and Dive Club and freshman year when I lived just across the street from the Rec Center. But as my classes required more time, I let my fitness go. With many recent health problems that arose in my family, I decided it was really important to make sure that fitness stayed a part of my life.  I tried to start doing various online workouts and old workouts I knew from swim but nothing seemed to give me the right feeling of working out which made it really hard to stay motivated. I struggled with making a plan and sticking to it. I felt like I was in this weird place of a once very active individual who could no longer do the workouts I knew and loved because it had been years since I actually worked out. When UFit went online during the pandemic, I figured that would be a perfect fit to help me start incorporating fitness in my life again and decided to try it!

I love how UFit has short term and long term goals incorporated in. My short term goal was to be able to hold a plank for at least two minutes. When I started, I thought that this was going to be impossible since I could barely hold one for 30 seconds. But after about a month in, 30 seconds felt incredibly easy and I was able to hold a plank for longer and longer. It is really exciting to see how my abilities to workout are growing and changing through the program. I also love how individualized it is. Riya is absolutely amazing, and she makes sure to incorporate the moves I love into each workout which makes it so much easier to stay motivated and focused on my goals.

UFit has definitely enhanced my experience at GVSU. As a senior engineering student, I spend all of my time on the Pew campus. Unfortunately, there are not a ton of Rec facilities on that campus, but being involved in UFit has bridged a gap I didn't really know existed. It has made me feel more connected to GVSU by allowing more to spend all of my time on the Pew campus or at home through the pandemic and still be involved in the university's recreation program.

This program has been absolutely fantastic!"
