GVS(You) Week 2017 (12 Photos)
From February 20th - 24th, 2017, the Future Alumni Association celebrated GVS(You) Week, its annual effort to educate students on the impact of private giving on campus. The week featured many events including Get the Scoop on Philanthropy, a social media contest, spirit day, and many opportunities for students to write thank you notes to Grand Valley alumni donors. In total, the Future Alumni Association collected more than 1,100 thank you notes to send in recognition of donor contributions to the university.
Brand Yourself 2016 (9 Photos)
The Future Alumni Association partnered with the Career Center to host a new event called Brand Yourself on November 15th, 2016. Students who attended this interactive workshop were able to learn how to promote a professional image from Grand Valley alumni and staff members. Topics covered during the event included common interview questions, creating an impressive Linked In page, and preparing for recruiting and networking events.
Founders Day 2016 (11 Photos)
Each year, Founders Day is dedicated to honoring the 282 individuals who came together to start the foundation of Grand Valley State University. This October 25th, students celebrated the history behind our University with cupcakes, carnival games, and pumpkin painting!
The Future Alumni Association also hosted its Buck-A-Brick fundraiser, which allowed students to recreate GV history by donating a dollar and signing their own brick. This event was a huge success, raising $167 to support the Student Legacy Scholarship.

Mentorship Mixer Fall 2016 (11 Photos)
The Future Alumni Association has partnered up with the Young Alumni Council in order to create a mentorship program for students who are actively involved in the organization. On October 11th, 2016, alumni and students gathered at the Alumni House for a mixer to kick off the program, as well as get to know one another. Mentor pairings were revealed during the event, and each pair is expected to meet twice per semester.
5 Under 35: Health Professions 2016 (13 Photos)
Five Under 35 is a new event designed to bridge the gap between students and alumni. This interactive panel allows students to ask questions and learn from young alumni. Topics covered include the transition to life after college and how to make the most of your time at Grand Valley. Each edition of Five Under 35 caters to a certain theme, including health professions, business, or education.
GVS(You) Week 2016 (29 Photos)
From February 15-19, 2016, the Future Alumni Association (FAA) celebrated GVS(You) Week! The event featured many events including "Get the Scoop" an ice cream social for Lakers to learn more about Student Philanthropy, a social media contest, many opportunities for students to write thank you notes to Grand Valley alumni donors, as well as celebrations of student, alumni and faculty/staff donors. Additionally, members of the organization visited various student organizations and classrooms to ask students to write a thank you note for alumni donors. In total, the Future Alumni Association collected more than 500 thank you notes from GVSU students - making this one successful (and fun!) GVS(You) Week.

Dinner with 7 Lakers 2015 (15 Photos)
70 GVSU students, faculty, and alumni gathered for the annual Dinner with 7 Lakers event on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Table assignments were made by areas of professional interest, and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to network and discuss future aspirations.
Buck-A-Brick Fundraiser 2015 (2 Photos)
55 years ago, community leaders came together to raise money to open the university through the Buck-A-Brick campaign. This past Founders Day, the Future Alumni Association allowed students to recreate this legendary moment in GV history by donating a dollar and painting their own brick. This pilot event was a huge success, raising $80 to support the Student Legacy Scholarship. President Thomas Haas even stopped by to show his support and paint a brick!

GVS(You) Week 2015 (26 Photos)
From February 16-20, 2015, the Future Alumni Association celebrated GVS(You) Week. The event featured many events - a social media competition on Twitter, 4 opportunities to write thank you notes to Grand Valley alumni donors, a GVSU spirit day - where prizes were given to those showing their Laker Pride, and celebrations of student, as well as faculty/staff donors. Additionally, members of the organization visited various student organizations and classrooms to ask students to write a thank you note for an alumni donor. In total, the Future Alumni Association collected over 600 thank you notes from GVSU students - making this the most successful (and fun!) GVS(You) Week to date.

Dinner with 7 Lakers 2014 (12 Photos)
On October 22, 2014, the Future Alumni Association held its annual Dinner with 7 Lakers event. The event hosted over 40 students, as well as over 25 faculty and GVSU alumni. Individuals were grouped together based on their area of study, field of teaching, or career path, and students were able to ask questions of the faculty and alumni. Many left the evening with valuable connections that have the potential to continue into the future.
