Biography

Dr. Brown is an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the School of Accounting. He has earned two degrees from the University of Pittsburgh: a B.S. in Finance and a Ph.D. in Accounting and Behavioral Economics. He is interested in exploring the behavioral effects of various performance measurement and reward systems with particular interest in the hidden consequences of managerial choices. In particular, he has researched employee perceptions of pay fairness in response to bonus opportunities, the effects of pay transparency policies relative to leaked pay information, and how employees respond to performance evaluation systems that are driven by artificial intelligence.

 

Dr. Brown enjoys reading (primarily science fiction), golf, and spending time with his wife, Kara, and two children, Alexa and Bennett.
