Congratulations to Owen Appel, Nicholas Ferriter, Hue Pham, Luke Ross, and management faculty advisor Dr. Raymond Fan on their first-place win in the annual General Motors and Wayne State University Supply Chain Case Competition.
The annual Supply Chain Case Competition hosted by General Motors and Wayne State University was held on October 19 - 21 at the GM Renaissance Center and Mike Ilitch School of Business in Detroit. This event attracts over 100 participants from approximately 20 universities across North America, including Western Michigan University, Colorado State University, Miami University, Bowling Green State University, Weber State University, University of North Dakota, Texas Tech University, Iowa State University, Indiana University – Indianapolis, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, and Tecnológico de Monterrey.
This year’s competition required student case teams to solve a supplier sourcing problem for GM's Silverado electric truck. In the first round, teams presented their solutions to top management judges from GM, Piston Group, AGC, Lear, and more. The top four teams advanced to the second round where students were required to solve an additional problem and present their solutions to GM’s top executives. The GVSU Seidman College of Business team, Owen Appel, Nicholas Ferriter, Hue Pham, Luke Ross, and management faculty advisor Dr. Raymond Fan excelled in both rounds and ultimately won first place. The team takes great pride in representing GVSU and Seidman College of Business in this competition and is proud to share this exciting moment.
