Excellence in a Discipline | Business Economics & Marketing

What is your favorite Seidman memory?

The most memorable course that I’ve completed at Grand Valley is MGT 340: Ethics and Business with Professor Paul Hillman. Having open conversations about what it means to operate a business ethically with students from all business disciplines was extremely beneficial. The interactive lectures and activities helped me identify what I value most, and I am confident in my ability to apply these values to my future career.

Our building namesake – Bill Seidman – exhibited many desirable traits of a leader such as innovator, integrity, curiosity and future-minded. How did your experience at Seidman help you develop one or more of these traits?

My experience at Seidman has helped me become a curiosity-driven leader. Through my courses and work experience, I’ve learned that asking meaningful questions is one of the most powerful tools we have as professionals. Leaders who are curious initiate the greatest change, and I strive to lead innovation with this mindset.

What would you like people in the community to know about Seidman graduates like you?

The Seidman College of Business provides a well-rounded curriculum that teaches students effective problem-solving skills. Our coursework connects topics from all business disciplines to understand the impact on society as a whole. We value teamwork and collaborate with our peers often to expand our perspectives.

What is your career aspiration?

In the future, I hope to work in marketing research and data analytics for a company that supports its community. Throughout my time at Seidman, I have seen the overwhelming impact that business has on society, and I aspire to be a leader with a company that makes positive contributions to both people and the planet.

How did your time at Seidman College prepare you to contribute to your community as a Laker for a Lifetime?

Throughout my time at Seidman, I’ve realized that learning extends far beyond the walls of a classroom; learning is a lifelong experience that takes collaboration and community to build. I'm grateful for the support system I've found as a student, and I’m excited to join the GVSU alumni network to continue growing personally and professionally.
