What is your favorite Seidman memory?
While no specific memory comes to mind, the most memorable part
of my experience at Seidman was building invaluable relationships with
professors. I always felt that I was cared for as a student and that
faculty were always looking to get to know their students better.
Our building namesake – Bill Seidman – exhibited many
desirable traits of a leader such as innovator, integrity, curiosity
and futuremindedness. How did your experience at Seidman help you
develop one or more of these traits?
My experience at Seidman has taught me that there is a lot more
to business than "growing profits and maximizing shareholder
value.” Being a business leader is about building relationships,
solving real problems, and serving the communities around you. Seidman
has shown me that leaders aren't born, they are made.
What would you like people in the community to know about
Seidman graduates like you?
We are grateful for all of the opportunities that you have
offered us over the past four years. All of the support from
businesses around Grand Rapids have served us greatly. Now we are
excited to enter the workforce, give back, and help build a better
working world.
What is your career aspiration?
Upon graduation, I plan to begin working for Ernst & Young as
a Technology Risk Consultant. Eventually, I hope to take the next step
into Cybersecurity Consulting and someday open my own consulting firm.
How did your time at Seidman College prepare you to contribute
to your community as a Laker for a Lifetime?
My time at Seidman has taught me the value of continuous learning
and growth. Our education isn't something that ends the moment we step
out those doors it lasts a lifetime. Now that I have seen how much
faculty, staff, and the community have invested into me over the past
few years, I have realized that it's my turn to start giving back.
