GVSU Head Cheer Coach Brandy Skantze Retires
Grand Valley State varsity head cheer coach Brandy Skantze announced that she is retiring from the post after 19 years.

The Grand Valley State University Laker Spirit Programs build community and help support the entire campus by spreading their passion for Laker Pride. The Cheer and Dance Teams also train year-round to compete nationally, with both teams currently and proudly holding national championship titles in their respective divisions.
The Grand Valley State University Cheer Team embodies spirit and athleticism, performing at all home football and basketball games while energizing fans. With dedicated All-Girl and Co-Ed teams, they also compete nationally, showcasing their skills and teamwork on a larger stage.
The Laker Dance Team is a vital part of the Laker Spirit Program, performing at home football and basketball games while also engaging in community service. They compete annually at the DTU College Classic National Competition in Orlando and are currently 15x National Champions.
Louie the Laker is the official mascot of Grand Valley State University. Louie embodies the Laker spirit and brings the community together by energizing fans and fostering school pride.
