Meet the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)! NPHC is the governing body of our historically Black sorority and fraternity chapters at Grand Valley. Find out more about NPHC and how you can get involved from the president himself, Antonio Green!

The National Pan-Hellenic Council was founded in 1930 at Howard University, a historically Black institution. Since then, it has been the governing body of the “Divine Nine”, which are the nine historically-Black sororities and fraternities, four of which are active here at Grand Valley. Identity-based communities like NPHC are an essential component of helping students find a sense of belonging here on campus.

Antonio Green is a senior at GVSU and the president of both the NPHC and the Iota Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

“Being the National Pan-Hellenic Council President means the world to me. I love being in the position to help others within my council as well as being an external resource for the betterment of our organizations and most importantly, our community,” he explains.

Being a part of the NPHC community provides students with professional opportunities, cultural community building, social events, service opportunities, and more.

Antonio says, “Being a president is to be held accountable for any and all issues, procedures, partners, etc. that the organization/council has to deal with.”

Since taking on these responsibilities, Antonio has developed his professional self.

Last Friday, NPHC co-hosted the NPHC Yard Show. At this event, the NPHC chapters performed cultural step and stroll routines. NPHC hosts many events that celebrate community and allow students to explore all that these affinity groups have to offer.
