GVSU Named One of America's Best Colleges for Student Voting and Winner of the ALL IN Challenge

This year, Washington Monthly named Grand Valley State University one of America’s Best Colleges for Student Voting. In the 2020 presidential election, voter turnout more than doubled from the 2016 presidential election for 18-24-year-olds around the country, according to Washington Monthly.

During Fall 2020, voting registration events and voter dialogue took place with the support of faculty and staff. GVSU promoted student participation using the tools provided by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, a student voter engagement program that encourages campuses to complete a series of actionable goals to increase civic awareness. Due to strong campus initiative, the Allendale Satellite Clerk’s office, located in the center of Grand Valley, was employed by over 800 students.

In addition, due to the success of the ALL IN challenge, Grand Valley was announced as a winner of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge's 2021 Best Action Plan Award. Grand Valley’s award was presented virtually at the State Voting Challenges Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.

Thanks to the empowerment of the ALL IN program and the efforts taken to increase civic engagement, Grand Valley is now a leading university in the student voting initiative.
