Jamie Benson is a junior majoring in secondary English education with a minor in psychology. She is the vice president of recruitment for Panhellenic and a member of Phi Sigma Sigma. Panhellenic is a governing body composed of members of different chapters of Greek life who act as “a support system for all 10 chapters.”
Although Jamie came to Grand Valley as a walk-on for swimming, it ended up not working out, and she looked to social media for further opportunities for involvement. “One click on Instagram, I signed up for recruitment, and my whole life changed,” Jamie says.
After serving as the treasurer and assistant recruitment director her first two years, Jamie decided to get involved with Panhellenic and represent Phi Sigma Sigma as the vice president of recruitment.
Jamie has learned so much about Greek life and herself and has grown because of her involvement. Because she’s been exposed to more women in different chapters of Greek life, Jamie has been able to forge strong connections with new people.
