Involvement Spotlights
John Johnson
October 04, 2022
Starting his first year at Grand Valley during a pandemic, John Johnson didn’t plan on getting involved in campus life. However, his roommate brought him to a Greek Life event, where John discovered Pi Lambda Phi, a fraternity that started a chapter at Grand Valley as recently as Winter 2020.
John quickly got involved in Pi Lambda Phi’s events and programs within the Interfraternity Council (IFC), including the Greek Life Lip Sync Battle, philanthropy through Push out Prejudice, and countless bonding events with his brothers. When asked about his favorite part of Pi Lambda Phi, John said “I think it’s the people. The people I meet, the people I interact with. Making connections.”
John found his closest friends by getting involved in Greek Life. He is now more confident in making connections and leading his peers. He encourages anyone on the fence about getting involved to do so. “College is tough… you can easily burn out, so having a group of people you can talk to about it is really helpful,” John says.
