Ignite/ReIgnite is the official training and resource programs for officers and executive boards of student organizations. ALL student organizations are REQUIRED to have at least one executive officer participate in both Ignite (Fall) and ReIgnite (Winter) with the exception of Greek Organizations that attend the Winter 2024 Officers Retreat. Policies and procedures, funding, LakerLink, and other important details pertinent to student organizations covered at this event.

Recreation & Wellness
- Club Sports
- If you are looking for a more competitive sport experience, join a club sports organization. Club Sports provide an exciting athletic alternative that bridges the gap between Intramural Sports and NCAA Varsity Athletics. Our club teams compete nationally against teams from other universities and we have over 40 different sports.
- Esports
- The Laker Esports Center opened in Fall of 2021. The LEC is located on the lower level of the Kirkhof Center. A variety of games are available including League of Legends, Minecraft, and Rocket League. Drop in hours provide an opportunity for gamers to use the center and play their favorite game. Our staff can help get you set up, whether you are a seasoned player or want to try something new.
- Fitness
- Our fitness programs make meeting or maintaining your fitness goals easy because we offer a variety of inclusive programs and services. We have group exercise classes like yoga and zumba, as well as fitness training sessions for individuals or groups. UFIt is a free service for students that provides individualized fitness programs that includes an equipment orientation, personalized workouts designed by a fitness specialist and ongoing support to help achieve goals. We also offer adult swim lessons. And if you need CPR or First Aid training, we have staff that can get you certified. Our programs welcome all fitness levels, abilities and experiences!
- Intramural Sports
- Intramural sports offers recreational team competitions for students of all skill levels. Join any of the 20 plus leagues offered during the fall and winter semesters. Create a team, and invite your friends and classmates to compete against other Lakers for the championship t-shirt! Participants can join, men’s, women’s or open league competition. Teams typically play 1-2 games per week.
- Outdoor Adventures
- Our outdoor adventures program encourages you to get out and explore. Join us at the climbing wall for an open climb or group team building opportunity. Brush up on an old skill or learn a new one through our educational workshops. Go on one of our planned trips or rent camping gear and plan your own trip with friends.
- Student Wellness
- Do you want to learn more about nutrition, sexual health, or general wellness topics like stress, rest, sleep or more? Connect with our WIT Peer Educators. We provide student-led education on lots of wellness related topics including presentations, social media, blogs and more. Looking for individual support? Connect with one of our Wellness Coaches or Wellness Navigators to explore wellness resources on campus.

This Winter, the Office of Student Life will partner with the Peter C. Cook Leadership Academy to offer four leadership development workshops dedicated to helping students discover leadership styles and techniques that allow them to achieve their full potential as leaders at GVSU and beyond. All students are welcome to attend, and registration is free!
2024 LEADERSHIP SUMMIT
After a four-year hiatus, the Office of Student Life, in collaboration with the Cook Leadership Academy, will offer a half-day leadership summit for students to network and attend sessions hosted by community leaders. More information about registering and submitting program proposals will be announced soon.
