Sunnie Wiswell: Germany

I will be spending the 2016-17 academic year attending Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (founded in 1472!) in Munich, Germany. I am going to be studying German language, culture, and history, and will be be earning a Certificate in Intercultural Communication from LMU München. I will have a unique opportunity to search for internships while in Germany, and to volunteer with refugees who have found a new home in Munich. I greatly look forward to spending my free time hiking in the Alps and exploring the country that my ancestors called home.
Kristen Childs: Slovenia

Ivijo, hello from Slovenia! I will be attending the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia to study geodesy & geoinformation as well as Slovene language. I look forward to immersing myself in Slovenian culture and exploring the beautiful outdoors of this Massachusetts-sized central European country. Slovenia has a rich history, and it will be interesting to observe how that has shaped its cities and culture throughout the years.
Taylor Lewis: France

I will be studying in Angers, France and my primary focus will be on learning the French language. I am excited to visit historical museums and locations such as the Normandy Beaches. This experience will greatly benefit me as I continue to pursue my academic goals in the field of military history.
Maya Grant: India

Hello, my name is Maya Grant and I will be attending Christ University in Bengaluru, India. I am studying abroad as a sociology major and women and gender studies minor. In India I plan to volunteer through different activist programs, while photographing and journaling the stories of those I meet. I hope to capture India’s people and culture in its most realistic form and be able to share what I learn with others when I return from my journey.

Bonjour! I will be studying French language and literature at L'Université Catholique de l'Ouest. While abroad, I will be integrated into French culture and language with the goal of fluency. In addition to classes, I plan on making the most of my stay abroad, visiting my European friends and family, meeting people, and growing as a person from the rich experience of living in France.

I will be studying sports sciences in London, England at Kingston University in the Fall 2016 semester. I am thrilled to be able to go on this adventure of a lifetime, where I can not only grow as a student and person, but also immerse myself in London’s diverse culture!

Guten Tag ! During the academic year of 2016/17, I will be direct enrolled at Karls Eberhard Universität Tübingen. Over the course of the year, I will be taking a variety of German-American relations classes, in addition to my German courses. Outside of the classroom, I will be involved in the hiking club and look forward to getting to know the quieter side of Europe!
Alan Carter: Spain

¡Hola! I will be traveling to Salamanca, Spain for the Academic Year of 2016-2017. While there, I will be studying Spanish, International Business, and Advertising and Public Relations. Almost 75% of my classes will be conducted in the Spanish language, so that I am able to really push myself to emphasize in the language. I will be volunteering to help teach the English language to local Spaniards. I am so very excited to improve my Spanish while creating lifelong relationships along the way. ¡Hasta Luego!
Aaron Overbeck: Ecuador

I am going to Guayaquil, Ecuador for two months in the summer. I have chosen to travel to Ecuador through KEI as it provided the classes I needed for my Spanish minor as well as the opportunity to be an intern at a local hospital. I am especially looking forward to the new culture surrounding the medical environment in a South American country.
Evan Irvine: Japan

I will be studying Japanese culture and language in Osaka. I plan to spend my time studying, meeting up with friends in the country, and climbing Mt. Fuji. Also going to try and go to a anime con, and see a concert!
Emily Konen: Ireland

I will be studying abroad for 10 weeks in Ballymore Eustace, Ireland. About 45 minutes southwest of Dublin, I will spend my time there completing fieldwork at Camp Barretstown, a camp for children with serious illness. This scholarship allows me to see Ireland (and England?) in my time off, as well as enhance my cultural competence, as I will be working with children from 12 different countries. I am excited to enhance my future as a health care professional as well as learn about many different viewpoints and people!
