Students that have a financial aid award for their upcoming semester abroad can request an early release of their funds in an amount up to $2,000 for legitimate study abroad related expenses such as airfare, student visas, housing payments, etc. 

The early release is only possible if the student will receive a financial aid refund that is more than the amount that will be charged by GVSU.

To make this request, students must contact Jamie Pleyte, [email protected], and provide:

1. The amount of financial aid being requested for early release

2. The reason(s) the aid is being requested (what costs will the aid cover for the student).
