Middle East Studies Study Abroad Programs
Morocco
What better way to learn, participate, and explore the Middle East than to study abroad in Turkey, Oman, Morocco, or Jordan. Study Abroad provides opportunities for rich cultural enrichment, development of intercultural skills, and a deeper understanding of the heritage, problems, and perspectives of Middle Eastern cultures. All of this, while receiving course credits, traveling abroad, and discovering something great and new.
Students interested in combining their study abroad experience with an internship, or just looking to do an internship have some options as well. Customized internships are available through GVSU Internships and other programs such as ISA and World Endeavors.

Academic Advice
- Students should meet with their MES adviser at least three months prior to departing for their program.
- The Middle East Studies director must approve any MES courses students wish to take to ensure that they will be counted toward their degree requirements.
- The B.A. requires third semester proficiency in a foreign language. Consider working on this requirement while studying abroad.
- A great advantage of studying abroad is living in the region you are studying. Learning about the history, language, and literature of your home-away-from-home enhances your experiences outside the classroom. Your daily interaction with the local culture also brings the subjects you are learning to life.
- Students may fulfill General Education Foundation and Issues requirements abroad
