Spotlights
Kelsey Clap, United Kingdom
My experience abroad was absolutely wonderful, though it was shorter than the traditional one-semester we packed as much into the month we were there as possible. I tried to take advantage of every opportunity possible to get the most out of my experience which included long weekend trips to both France and Scotland. We visited at least two museums a day on average and though it was a lot of stimulation it was an Art majors dream to see all of the famous artworks in person.
I'm currently at Grand Valley, entering my semester of teaching assisting through the College of Education. This experience has impacted me in so many different ways. It has opened my mind up even more so to the world around me. It has helped me not only in my own art-making by being influenced by such a wide range of artworks and artifacts, but also in my teaching by learning about different cultures, traditions, and histories. I cannot wait to implement my experiences and lessons in my Student Assisting and Teaching but also my own classroom in the future.
