Passport Information for Gender Transitioning Students
Applying for your Passport
A new policy was announced by the State Department in June 2021, allowing individuals to more easily update the gender marker on their US Passport. To acquire a passport with a corrected gender marker, applicants no longer are required to submit paperwork and a letter from a physician certifying that the applicant has had or is receiving appropriate clinical treatment for gender transition. Documentation of gender confirmation surgery is no longer required.
