Elevating the voices, perspectives, values, and commitments of today’s students, the 11th Annual Padnos/Sarosik Civil Discourse Symposium will invite student speakers (from local high schools and GVSU) to share their views about pressing social issues. The symposium will integrate its signature component: small group conversations where people can have conversation and practice constructive dialogue skills. This symposium will spotlight the voices of Gen Z and invite them to respond to the prompt: If we were President of the United States, what social problems and solutions would we prioritize? One goal of this symposium is to focus on deep listening to what is on students’ minds.

The Symposium will be led by Dr. Greg Warsen, Endowed Professor of Civil Discourse and Graduate Program Director for the Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership.
