Three Unique Campuses

Grand Valley's three unique campuses are in West Michigan and linked by the free Laker Line bus system making it a quick 20-minute trip from the main campus to the downtown campuses. Students' experience at Grand Valley's campuses often grows with them through their years as a Laker. Most first-year students live and take general education classes on the main campus. Then, depending on their major, students may find more of their classes take place downtown. University housing is available in Allendale and downtown and all students have convenient access to all the cultural, social, entertainment, and internship or employment opportunities that Grand Rapids provides.

3 Unique Campuses

Grand Valley's Allendale campus features deep, wooded ravines through a high bluff that overlooks the Grand River to the east and gently rolling open fields to the west. The campus is designed to take advantage of the area's scenic wooded ravines as well as its open meadowlands. Winding walkways between buildings connect with a series of natural trails along the riverbank. A 230-foot-long pedestrian bridge known as "Little Mac" spans a spectacular ravine to connect north and south campus. The majority of Grand Valley's academic and administrative buildings, living centers and dining halls, the main library and learning commons, and athletic and recreation facilities are located here.

Several Living-Learning Communities, included the Frederik Meijer Honors College, are also located in Allendale. These offer a shared learning experience and peer support system in one package.

The Robert C. Pew Grand Rapids campus is just 13 miles to the east and includes dedicated buildings for the Seidman College of Business, the Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing, the College of Education and Community Innovation, the university's public radio and television stations, as well as living centers and dining options. The Robert C. Pew campus is located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids, close to employment and entertainment options.

For students interested in a Living-Learning Community, the Engineering and Social Work communities are located across the street from the Richard M. DeVos Center in Winter Hall.

Grand Valley's Health Campus is located on Grand Rapids' Medical Mile, within walking distance of world-renowned hospitals, medical research facilities, and health care employment opportunities. All of Grand Valley's campuses are accessible by the Laker Line bus system, which serves each location approximately every 10 minutes and gets students to any campus within 20 minutes. The Laker Line is part of the Rapid transit system that serves the greater Grand Rapids area. Students ride the entire Rapid for free with their student ID.
