The Mission of Student Global Awareness (SGA) is to:

• Promote a better understanding among the students in Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS) on how the global economy affects their daily life and future quality of life.
• Create greater awareness of the international opportunities and resources available to help students prepare for success in life and future careers.
• Student Global Awareness Day was created by Michigan World Trade Week and has been part of its festivities since 2005 touching over 1,500 students within GRPS. Funding for the SGA program is provided by the Michigan World Trade Week sponsors each year.
