• Use What Can I Do With this Major? to explore different positions and industries that your major connects to.
• Learn about degree requirements and compare curriculum guides.
• Go to the GVSU Majors Fair (typically held in early November).

Talk with an academic advisor to learn more about classes, scheduling, and your academic plan.

Get Involved & Test It Out:

• Join a student organization–check out LakerLink for a list of on-campus involvement opportunities.
• Conduct an informational interview to learn more about a certain career and how to get there.
• Utilize the Laker Exploratory Network - a searchable directory that allows you to email upper division students and recent alumni about their major, coursework, career plans, and other aspects related to their major of interest or career path.
• Job shadow someone in a prospective career field to get a feel for the work environment and day-to-day tasks.
• Volunteer–look for opportunities related to the field you’re exploring.
• Find virtual experiential learning opportunities through Candid Career. These opportunities are a great way to validate your interest in a career, without needing to commit significant time to do so in the way that a traditional internship requires.
• Apply for a micro-internship - short-term, paid projects for employers that can be completed within 10-40 hours.
