1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
I completed a MA and PhD at the University of Denver in Child,
Family, and School Psychology. I received advanced training in
schools, pediatric primary care, and academic medicine. I knew I
wanted to become a Licensed Psychologist, thus, the next step was
entering the APPIC process in which I matched with the University of
Michigan, Michigan Health and completed a pre-doctoral internship in
integrated behavioral health and pediatric psychology. I headed back
out (even farther west) and completed a 2 year post-doctoral
fellowship in behavioral pediatrics and pediatric psychology. I am now
in my second faculty position, back in Michigan, and back at the
University of Michigan in which I work on the inpatient
consultation-liaison and outpatient pediatric psychology services.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
Academic memory- Dr. Todd Williams and Dr. Christine Smiths
research labs. Still a social psychologist at heart. Non academic
memory- Mondays at Founders Brewery
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
It’s okay if you don’t have a linear path as long as you can tell
the story that gets you there.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Individuating, empowering, and fun!
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I hope every patient and family that I meet with is able to find
a moment of peace and comfort in our interaction.
