1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
Since graduating, I began my professional career working in the non-profit realm and the historic civil rights organization. I am currently a Youth Development Specialist for the Urban League of West Michigan. In my role, I primarily oversee two youth programs "Ours Girls Rock" and "Urban Fellows." Both groups look to educate high school students, grades 9-12, on a series of topics such as life skills, resume writing, job readiness, S.T.E.M, personal and professional development, and more.

2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
My favorite Grand Valley moment would be when my fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc- Iota Epsilon chapter, was able to do a campus and community wide water drive. The water drive was aimed to help the Flint Community by having different GVSU departments, organizations, and clubs donate cases of water. It was a great representation of what it means to be GVSU Laker, but more importantly, a brother of the Iota Epsilon chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha.

3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
The best piece of advice would be to take things day by day and control what you do. In college, we often put ourselves through a lot of stress that comes from worrying. If we channel our inner focus, we will be able to only look at things rationally. Ask yourself, what is in my direct control? What can I do directly to help this situation? Often times, there is nothing we can at the moment, and we need to understand and be okay with controlling what we can.

4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand Valley experience.
Transformational, Challenging, Gratifying

5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I would like to be a representation of what it means to come from an at-risk community and stand solid on whom you are and what you are about. I want to motivate and inspire young at-risk males to envision their futures in places they have never imagined while being true to themselves. I intend to create a mentoring program to specifically assist at-risk males grow in areas that are often forgotten or given up on.
