1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
I joined the computer science department at Cornell University as a PhD student. My research merges networking and social impact of computing systems in resource-constrained environments such as farms. I enjoy my work because of its interdisciplinary nature. That is, it enables me to forge collaboration across various fields and organizations, which for instance included the opportunity to (virtually) meet with the Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, to discuss our ongoing collaboration with Microsoft on the future of networked farms.

2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
One of my favorites is the bus trip from Michigan to the Undergraduate McNair Scholars conference in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. Besides presenting my research and bonding with the other GVSU McNair Scholars cohort members, I believe it was, unbeknownst to me, a subtle call from New York State to do graduate school here.

3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
My late father instilled in my siblings and I the ethos that education is the best inheritance you can give to anyone.

4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand Valley experience.
Dynamic, rigorous, uplifting.

5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I would like to inspire and diversify subsequent generations of computing and information scientists - whether as a professor or any in other capacity.
